Psalm 139:13-14 "You made all the delicate , inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!"
God made us all in his image. Psalm 139 tells us that He knows everything about us. Self esteem defined is confidence in one‘s own worth or abilities. Based on that definition, I believe God esteem is confidence in God’s worth and abilities, and who He made you to be.
We know from scripture that God made us
1) Fearfully and wonderfully made - Psalm 139:14 NIV
2) Chosen - Ephesians 1:4
3) Wonderfully complex - Psalm 139:14
4) God‘s masterpiece - Ephesians 2:10
5) Precious to God, honored and loved - Isaiah 43:4
Because God made man in his image, we ought to ask ourselves, “What is God’s image?” and then imitate that. Listed below are some attributes of God, scriptures that support those attributes of God, and scriptures that call us to display those same attributes.
Psalm 145:9 "The Lord is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made."
Luke 6:6 "Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful."
Joshua 22:22 "The Lord, the Mighty One, is God! The Lord, the Mighty One, is God! He knows the truth and may Israel know it, too! We have not built the altar in treacherous rebellion against the Lord. If we have done so, do not spare our lives this day.
Ephesians 6:10 "A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power."
Psalm 86:5 "For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you.
Matthew 6:14-15 "If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.
Isaiah 48:17 "This is what the Lord says-your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: "I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is good for you and leads you along the paths you should follow."
Matthew 28:20 "Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
Isaiah 53:5 "But he was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed."
Romans 8:11 "But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
Matthew 10:8 "Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.
Jeremiah 32:17 "Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you."
Isaiah 61:1 "The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners."
Psalm 119:89-90 "Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven. Your faithfulness endures to all generations; You established the earth, and it abides.
Hebrews 10:23 "His lord said to him, "Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord."
When we look at ourselves as God created us, like Him, what's not to love? This is way easier said than done, however, I encourage you to get into your word to see what God says about you. Jeremiah 17:7 reads "But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him." It is my prayer that as your confidence is placed in the Lord, as you learn more about Him and who you are through Him, that your self esteem will be turned into God Esteem and your love for yourself will continuously enlarge.
